Take the Jayhawk Walk in the Kansas Union
A tour of Jayhawk art.

      home

Former student George Knotts left a lasting impression on the image of the Jayhawk. This stone Jayhawk, located on the south end of the level two hallway in the Kansas Union, is the father of the popular bronze Jayhawk paperweight sold by the KU Bookstore since the 1960s. The design and rights of the bronze Jayhawk, with a look of determination on one side of the beak and a smile on the other, was purchased from the artist in the 1980's.
